Los Hervideros

Continuing for about 3 km (approx. 2 miles) north along the coast, we reach Los Hervideros, a stretch of bizarrely shaped rock formations protruding into the ocean. As the name already implies it – Los Hervideros literally means ‘boiling waters’ – the sea is bubbling and boiling in the lava caves, chimneys and arches created by erosion, especially spectacular to watch when the Atlantic is rough and heavy swells roll in, producing pounding spray tossed up several metres in the air with a roaring noise.
