Tiagua is a small and quaint Canarian village in the municipality of Teguise in Lanzarote. A lovely little place to visit, Tiagua showcases a different side to the island and is a charming rural destination away from the crowds.
It is home to an attractive and cosy chapel, the Ermita de la Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro, which features some interesting artworks.
Tiagua’s real charm is to wander around the pretty streets and get a feel for a different way of life, which has traditionally focused on agriculture in this area.
This is one of the reasons Tiagua was chosen as the location for one of Lanzarote’s leading attractions, the excellent and award-winning Museo Agrícola El Patio. This open-air museum offers a comprehensive insight into Lanzarote’s intriguing, ingenious and unusual agricultural traditions and tells a fascinating story of how farmers fought back following massive volcanic eruptions that destroyed fertile land in many places. There is also a wine museum, two windmills with an exhibition on how to make gofio, displays of agricultural tools and a collection of original photographs reflecting scenes of hard-working rural life.
To round off your visit of this pleasant and very informative museum, have a taste of the locally produced wine and the traditionally made goat’s cheese!

Monday to Friday 10.00–17.30 hours and on Saturdays from 10.00–14.30 hours. Closed on Sundays.
There is a small entrance fee.
