Tías
Puerto del Carmen belongs to the municipality of Tías, the administrative centre of which is the small town of Tías, just 5 km (3 miles) inland. With 11,000 inhabitants the island’s second largest town, it is mostly residential and has not much to offer to interest a tourist.
The only historic monument you will find here is the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, which has a peculiar double bell tower. Every year in February, the church becomes the centre of all fiesta activities taking place at that time.
Tías boasts some typical Canary bars and restaurants, which are worth a visit if you want to get away from the modern bustle of Puerto del Carmen.
