Uga

Located at the southern entrance to the valley of La Geria, the small, fertile wine village of Uga, with its low, white houses, oasis-like freshened up with some palm trees and other greenery, has an appealing, almost North African charm. The highest building of this village is its whitewashed, rather modern church with an open belfry.

Uga’s North African aspect is accentuated by the many camels, which can often be seen walking along the path through the lava fields to the Camel Park, as its main activity is the breeding of camels, respectively dromedaries, which are used for carrying tourists around the outer reaches of the Timanfaya National Park and for safari tours in other places of the island.
