Lanzarote Taxis
Having your own wheels is always the best way to explore any place but in case you are not in the mood to drive you can always search for a taxi. Lanzarote’s taxis are good value by European standards. Just look for eggshell-white cars with a red stripe on each front door. Other signs that might help you recognize a taxi are the letters ‘SP’ (meaning Servicio Público public service) and a green light on top or in the front windscreen (this green light indicates that the taxi is free).
Short journeys around town are metered but for longer trips it is better to negotiate a fixed fare in advance. From the airport to Arrecife the fare is around € 6,00; € 4,00 to Playa Honda; € 12,00 to Costa Teguise; € 9,00 to Puerto del Carmen and around € 27,00 to Playa Blanca (prices from 2005).
Cash is the only accepted form of payment and be aware that there might be a small luggage charge if you carry too much with you.
