The tranquil village of Sóo is characterised by flat dunes of fine sand, which continuously move due to constant northerly trade winds.
This low plain is a haven for bird-watchers who come to spot desert species, such as trumpeter finch, houbara bustard, stone curlew and cream-coloured courser, just to name a few.
The area around Sóo, which has a distinct desert village aspect, is cultivated with vegetables, pumpkins and watermelons. The hottentot fig flower still thrives here.
