The neighbouring islet of La Graciosa is blessed with several long, unspoilt beaches featuring dunes of fine white sand, which many people consider some of the finest natural beaches of the Canarian archipelago.

Most of these impressive beaches are very secluded and everybody who makes it there is rewarded with striking beauty, breathtaking views, lovely soft sand, crystalline waters and divine tranquillity. Only a few can be reached on foot, which can take some time since all roads are dirt tracks. There are taxis available; check with your hotel reception and they will be able to help organise your day trip.

The most beautiful of the islet’s best-known beaches is the 1,640 ft (500 metres) long Playa de las Conchas on its north-western shore, with spectacular views of the uninhabited smaller islands of Montaña Clara, Roque del Este and Alegranza. The waters can be rough at this beach, it’s important to be cautious.

In the surroundings are also the beaches of Caleta de Arriba, La Laja and El Salado, a strip of fine golden sand with calm waters of about 1 mile (1.5 kilometres) long. You have to walk to this area but it is well worth the journey.

In addition, other beaches close by include Playa Francesa and Playa La Cocina to the south and Playa Lambra on the north shore… and there are more still!

As with most beaches in Lanzarote, always make sure there are no undercurrents and that swimming is safe.

La Graciosa has everything for all those who are seeking peaceful, natural beauty and want to get away from it all. It makes for a great day trip from wherever you are staying on the island.
